Improvement After Movement® (I AM)
The most powerful message on the planet.
Improvement After Movement is a free online resource with a focus on daily movement, the key to improvement. It's all about getting the best out of yourself, there's 3 parts:
1. The first online scrapbook for the best athletes, actors, musicians, comedians, entrepreneurs, journalists and politicians. The resource is full of photos, newspaper clippings and YouTube videos, use the search feature to your right for an individual's search results.
The highest ranking Google search from the I AM scrapbook is Tonight I can report...
It's US President Barack Obama announcing the death of Osama bin Laden.
I posted a tweet on September 11, 2010, 8 months before Osama bin Laden's death, it may have something to do with my message coming up number 1 on all Google searches: From Melbourne to New York, God bless USALL... (part of tweet)
2. Six I AM Principles: As you scroll down this page you'll learn 6 simple principles for moving forward in life effectively.
Improvement After Movement is the 1st principle, put simply, we're only going to improve any part of our life after we move in that specific part of our life, health, career, relationships. etc.
3. The Work of Byron Katie: At the very bottom of this page is an introduction to The Work, it's a phenominal process that teaches you how to be at peace with your past, a good place to be.

ps. The 1st principle Improvement After Movement, it spells the acronym I AM, the 1st name of God, I didn't know that til over a year after the message came to me in 2006.
Finding that out got me interested in learning more about God, here's one thing I've learned so far, did you know Muslims, Jews and Christians all believe in the same God? Allah, Yahwey, I AM, they're all names for the same God, that's the God I believe in.
Continue scrolling down to work through I AM principle's 2-6, and learn about The Work.
I AM 2. How To Produce Great Results FAST
I drew up the first version of the How To Produce Great Results diagram in late 2005, it's now evolved into this current model, the FAST acronym completing the diagram, that came to mind in October 2011, two months after I turned 30. (I think I'm 21)
It's pretty simple and pretty powerful, where have you been living your life so far?
Spend a couple of minutes examining it. Obviously, Quadrant 1 is the place to be for all areas of your life, it's where you're open to change and you're finding really smart teachers to learn from.
As soon as you find the work of a person you know will help get you where you want to go, don't just read it once and think you know it, because it's simply not possible.
Study it, immerse yourself in it, learn it, then and only then will you begin to produce results that will stand up under pressure.
Taking a long term approach is the only way anyone has ever reached mastery of anything, and it's one common denominator of the most successful people who've ever lived.
An example of Quadrant 1 behaviour, the Improvement After Movement story.
The Improvement After Movement message was inspired by Tony Robbins CANI message:
Constant And Never-ending Improvement.
I bought my first home when I was 20, then sold it in 2005 (24 years old) to continue my research work, a portion of the proceeds from the sale went towards attending a series of Tony Robbins events.
In April 2006 I attended Tony's Date With Destiny event on the Gold Coast. I was born in Melbourne, but I lived on the Gold Coast for 25 years, I moved back to Melbourne when I was 26.
There were about 2,500 people at the event, we were put in teams, one day your team might sit at the front of the room, the next day you might be at the back, then the next day in the middle.
There were a couple of fund raising days later in the event where the reward for the team that raised the most money would be to sit at the front of the room the next day.
For some reason I was put in a team that sat 5 metres from Tony's lectrum the entire event. We had to fill out a number of forms online prior to the event, everyone knew exactly why I was attending the course, I was already 15 months into my research work.
I heard Tony tell everyone his CANI message and had the thought to make up my own CANI message. I scribbled some notes and soon after began asking myself this question:
What's a really simple message I can live by and teach other people to live by?
It took about a month or two for Improvement After Movement to come to mind.
I thought it was a good message the night it came to me, but it was only when it popped into my mind out of the blue on August 14, 2006 that I realised I'd really struck gold, and then immediately bought the ImprovementAfterMovement.com domain name.
So that's how it happened, I didn't buy the I AM domain name when the message first came to me, the online resource at that stage was called Vision Driven Living.
And that's what I mean by Quadrant 1 behaviour, I found a really smart teacher, was open to the change he taught me, for the most part, and the I AM message resulted.
Side note: I'm pretty sure Tony Robbins CANI philosophy would have been inspired from the Japanese philosophy Kaizen... Continuous Improvement.
I AM 3. Live a Vision Driven Life
The Vision Driven Life is a 3 step formula, they are:
-
Create your Vision
-
Plan your path
- Do your part
Create a vision for what you want your life to look like.
See your vision really clearly in your mind’s eye, then plan your path to seeing that vision become your reality in the real world, then do your part.
Your vision doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be clear. What you’ll probably find is you’ll begin being pulled towards your vision as you start moving in it's direction.
I AM 4. Plant - Nourish - Flourish®
You can learn a lot from the process of a tree's growth.
Step 1: Plant rock solid, unshakeable seeds internally.
Step 2: Nourish those seeds with your highest level of behaviour.
Step 3: Flourish with growth.
The first seed to plant is Improvement after movement, it's rock solid and it's unshakeable, everytime you need to hear it, you'll hear it.
Here's an example of an 'I am' secondary seed.
When my body wouldn't let me run freely in the early 2000's, I stopped playing sport seriously and focussed my attention on business, I started in a sales role in the mortgage industry with Wizard Home Loans, Australia's largest non bank lender at the time.
I set a goal of helping 150 clients in the 2002-03 financial year, it was pretty ambitious. Anyway, in the final few days of the financial year (June 03) I helped my 150th client, along the way buying my first and second property, here's how I did it.
I read this statement to myself everyday before I started work:
I am helping 150 clients before June 30, 2003.
I learned something really interesting from the experience, with 2 months to go I was only at 100, still 50 clients (1/3) away from reaching my goal. But with the momentum I'd built up in previous months, in the final 2 months I settled 19 loans in May and 31 in June, hitting 150.
The moral of the story, when you set an ambitious 12 or 24 month goal, it might not look like you're going to reach it until the final couple of months, don't give up, as you continue focussing on it and working towards it with daily movement, you might just make it happen.
Note: Improvement After Movement didn't exist back then, but now that it does, everytime I say or see my I am affirmations it automatically sends the Improvement After Movement message top of mind, that's why it's so powerful, it's out of my control.
I AM 5. Memorize - Model - Master™
Mastery is no longer a mystery with the world's first packet of m&m&m's.
memorize the behaviour.
model the behaviour.
master the behaviour.
Whatever you’ve memorized and modeled in your past, if you’ve done it long enough, you’ve mastered it.
The question you have to ask yourself is, what have you mastered?
If you want to produce different results, you might have to take a different approach, so follow this simple formula to produce your new results, it won’t let you down.
And that goes for any area of your life too.
I AM 6. 80/20 Problem Solving
Solve with ‘how can …’, source with ‘how did …’
80% focus on the solution using ‘Solving Questions’
20% focus on the problem using ‘Sourcing Questions’
Problems are part of life, problems bring growth, growth is good, so problems are good.
Where most people find themselves struggling with problems all comes back to the way they're processing the problem.
If you’re struggling with a problem, and want to solve it, ask yourself questions beginning with ‘How can’.
E.g. How can I ... ?
Once you’ve solved the problem, go back and find the source of the problem, asking yourself questions beginning with ‘How did’.
E.g. How did I ... ?
The purpose of a sourcing question relates to the prevention rather than cure philosophy, if you find the source, you’ll go a long way to preventing the problem recurring in the future.
That sales role with Wizard Home Loans starting in October 2001, I actually fell into it, the only reason I started with Wizard was because I couldn't get a job, it was one of the best things to ever happen to me.
I worked hard, and after 10 months bought my first home, that was the home I sold a few years later to setup this resource.
I saw value in learning how to increase my business with referred clients and started asking myself this question:
'How can I learn to increase my referral business?'
That's when I got connected with Joe Stumpf's business coaching organisation in America, By Referral Only.
And in 2003 I hopped on a plane for my first overseas trip, across to Los Angeles for a By Referral Only 3 day training.
In May 2004 I went back across to America for more training, during the seminar I spoke briefly about the success I'd had implementing one of Joe's systems. At the end of the 3rd day Joe told me he would like to coach me personally, I was pretty happy, particularly because I was on the lowest membership plan.
During a coaching session Joe invited me to stay with him for a couple of days at his home in San Diego, California.
This was the view from Joe's home the Friday afternoon before I was leaving to return to Australia, in February 2005.
It was during this stay I first started learning The Work of Byron Katie, through her book, Loving What Is. It was actually the audio version of her book I listened to first.
Then about 10 months later I flew back across to America and attended her 9 day school for The Work, the most important 9 days 'paid' personal development work I've ever done.
The Work is a phenominal process, one thing it taught me was how to be at peace with my past, it's a simple process to learn which is why it's so good.
I suggest you start with the Loving What Is book, hard copy or audio version, I love the audio version.
I was only supposed to stay with Joe for 2 or 3 days because he had training sessions interstate, those couple of days were pivotal in shaping my life. I told Joe I wanted to build a resource that would help millions of people.
Joe said I could stay in his home by myself for the last 5 days of my stay in America so I could get started working on the project.
One other thing he asked me was how old I was, I said 23, his response was exactly what I needed to hear from someone in his position, Joe said:
"Marc, you could do some really big things with your life by the time you're 30".
It was hearing those words that instilled the confidence in me to stop working my business and set off on this preventative health path full time for the next 18 months, having to sell both my properties to see it through.
I don't think Joe knew how far I was prepared to go to get this done.
When Oprah interviewed Byron Katie, Oprah said, even if all you got from The Work was the 3 types of business concept, you'll be better for it.
I strongly encourage you to dig deep into Byron Katie's work, it'll change your life forever, in such a positive way.
Here's a photo below of Byron Katie teaching The Work to 2,300 people in Tel Aviv, Israel.
