I've only swum in the outdoor pool at MSAC a few times, I like it.
This story will give you an idea of my dad's psychology.
When I was 12 we moved on to acreage a little bit away from where we were living at Hollywell. (Runaway Bay)
Our new home had a pool, about 12 metres long, I started putting on a fair bit of weight when we moved out to River Downs, dad said I should swim 100 laps of the pool a day.
So when I was 13 I started swimming 100 laps a day, one day after a few weeks of doing the 100 laps a day cycle, I swam 200 laps, I was pretty happy with myself and went and found dad to tell him what I did, this was his response, I'll never forget it:
'It means nothing if you don't do it again tomorrow, and everyday from now on'.
There was no praise, just that straight comment, then he got back on with what he was doing, it pissed me off so much at the time, but he was right.
I started back swimming a couple of weeks ago after the last bit of hip surgery, usually in the 50m indoor pool, been doing 3 lots of 10, no time goals, then today after my gym session I thought I'm gonna have a go 40 laps straight in 40 minutes, made it in 39:57, with very little kicking.
I picked 40 minutes because rugby league halves are 40 minutes, guess I should do it again tomorrow, make it my new norm.
